Info On Lithium Information in Q&A
How/where do you store a Sony Camcorder info lithium battery? Should it be fully charged or not? I have a Sony Camcorder and wish to preserve the battery for as long as possible. Should I let it completely run down before storing it, or store it fully charged? And should I simply place it in a dark place, not attached to the camera?

wires replied: "Always store a battery fully charged. And remove it from the device. Never store a battery in something and never put something aside for an extended period with a battery in it."

lare replied: "i have had to store info lithium batteries for sony camcorders and cameras for several years with no special attention. they should be charged and put individually in plastic sandwich ziplock baggies. this protects them environmentally and prevents shorts. When you put the camcorder back in service, remember you will need to set the clock and any other pre-sets. On my miniDV that means changing the audio from 12 bit to 16 bit mode."

How long do I need to charge my Sony T10 digital camera Info-Lithium battery for the first time? Any tips or tricks to protect battery?

Is it possible to use a third-party Info-lithium replacement battery in a SONY digital camera? Hi! Please...I have a SONY DSC-S50 Cyber-shot digital camera, and I believe it's time for a battery replacement. The model number on my battery is: NP-FM50. This battery is the original battery and it came with the camera. It's labled as an "infolithium" battery. Please, is it mandatory that I order a SONY replacement battery, in particular, or am I safe in ordering a compatible lithium battery online or elsewhere? If so, which online site is recommended? One site suggested that sometimes third-party batteries don't always work in SONY digital cameras. Sony, naturally, suggests that I use their brand of accessories. I am still quite the novice and any/all advice regarding this subject will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)

c_yu replied: "I've had luck using compatible batteries for my old Sony digicam. But I heard that the newer Sonys have a way of checking if the battery is a genuine Sony infolithium battery. Best to work with a local seller that has a good return policy - such as Best Buy or Circuit City. I personally buy most of my rechargable batteries from Thomas Distributing: I've also had good luck with Battery Barn:"

nikonphotobug replied: "Yes and they are generally cheaper and last longer because they have a higher mAh. You can either Google it or check out eBay to either buy them on line or to find out the web site of the company selling them. There are a lot of companies out there who do nothing but make replacement batteries for cameras, laptops, PDAs, etc. Norm"

Apachee replied: "If I am not wrong this camera is already qiute old in the market already. If purchase a original battery it will cost quite a sum of money but from what I known using a compatible battery should not be a problem as only the newer cameras that is produce after DSC-T9 will have a problem using compatible one. For that battery only the more expensive handycam such as DCR-HC3 is using none of the camreas and handy-cam is using it anymore. If possible i will recommend u to purchase a new camrea instead."

where can i buy a info LITHIUM P NP-FP50 charger? the battery is for a sony handycam

Sony camcorder: Info lithium battery? My model number is DCR-TRV 830. I need to find where this battery goes. Is there a picture online that will show me?

Nu'uanu replied: "First, download the manual for your camcorder: The "InfoLithium" battery is the main battery that mounts to the back of the camcorder. Refer to Page 11. If you are referring to the internal battery that maintains the date, time and other settings when the camcorder is not in use, refer to page 154. It may be hard-wired and not user changeable. Follow the instructions to recharge it. If it does not recharge and requires replacement - there may be a small removable cover in the InfoLithium battery compartment or the LCD panel compartment that can provide access for replacement - but this is doubtful. Service by a qualified technician may be required."
