Depakote and Wellbutrin SR? Weight gain? I have been taking Depakte ER and Webutrin SR for 4 months and I have gained 25 lbs. Has anyone else gained weight on this medication? I am considered overweight for my height. I still feel depressed on this medication.

paradoxical1 replied: "Many SSRIs state weight gain as a side-effect, it is not unusual. However, if after 4 months of taking the wellbutrin, you are still depressed, please contact your doctor and inform hiim/her. You may do better on a different medication."

kat12 replied: "Yes and get off of it. I gained like 40lbs and lost it when I went off it."

mytwodogs60463 replied: "I was on depekote for many years and gained alot of weight on it. If you don't like that ask your doctor about Topamax as that makes you lose weight. I've been on it for years and my weight was 179 and when I started topamax it dropped to 125. they have many good seizure medications today as I tried all of them. Depakote does make you feel depressed. I'm on tegretol and topamax and I've been doing good. Ask your doctor about the 2 medications I listed."

sweet sue replied: "I was on Depakote forabout14 years. I gained 60lbs. I also had chronic severe diarrhea, I knew every public bathroom in the area. If I went out to eat, we aways had to stay for a cup of coffee because I usually won't make it home. I have 4 other family members on depakote and all have experience with weight gain and diarhea. My Dr. changed me to Lamictal this summer and not only have I lost 30# with out trying I no longer have diarhea. There are other meds out there so talk to your Dr. It is not unusual to still be depressed because these meds are not like "lightbulbs". They do not suddenly turn on, Talk to your dr. as Wellbutrin may not be the drug for you, I take wellbutrin and paxil with good results."

Giving Blood? I want to donate blood on my 17th birthday. Though i'm not sure if the medications i'm on will allow me too. I'm on Depakote, Serquel, Prozac, and Wellbutrin SR. I am being treated for Bi-Polar disorder, Borderline Personality disorder, and for hearing and seeing things. Can some one inform me whether or not i will be able to donate.

Moxie Crimefighter replied: "Talk to one of the nurses first."

ALM replied: "contact red cross ahead of time to check out there restrictions."

just me replied: "make sure you talk to the nurses and disclose all medications you are on."

Lacieles replied: "Check with the doctors first. Only they can qualify you to do so."

Lola replied: "Probably not. The Red Cross tries to find blood that doesn't have a lot of drugs in it because the recipients might be allergic to the drugs and it could cause them some serious side effects. Thank you, though, for wanting to donate blood. They may still take your blood for platelets though. Call the Red Cross office in your area and ask them."

Charlie replied: "You can check the websitelisted below to read eligibility requirements...scroll way down the page to read medications section. You can also call the Red Cross at 1-800-448-3543 to ask specific questions."

I'm very curious on what my pills for my Disorders and Phobias can do for my body.? I Suffer from Multiple Disorders and Phobias and I'm curious wat risks can my pills can do for my body. These are my Minor Disorders and Phobias: 1. Amnesia (Due to Stimulus Thoughts; ADHD) 2. Claustrophobia 3. Tourette Syndrome (Due to Uncontrollable Rage; Intermittent Explosive Disorder) These are my SEVERE Disorders and Phobias which my Doctor Magnifies: 4. Bi-polar Dis. 5. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder(ADHD) 6. Intermittent Explosive Disorder 7. Obsession Compulsive Disorder (OCD) 8. Panic Disorder (Panic Attacks) 9. Social Phobia 10. Insomnia (Due to Stimulus Thoughts) I'm Taking these pills and I want to know what they do, what Disorder or Phobia it's having an effect on, what risks I'm taking, and what are the side effects: Clonazepam - 0.5 MG Geodon - 80 MG Bupropion SR - 200 MG Amitriptyline - 25 MG Ambien CR - 12.5 MG Adderall XR - 30 MG (I'm really curious about this pill cause this is new to me because my Doctor just Prescribed a New ADHD pill for me after concerta and vyvanse) I've been taking everything except Adderall XR for 3 Years and I didn't do much research about my pills, some have been switch with MG and pills and I need a good source that can give me good detail about my pills. So far I've Taken some Medicine that has affected me to some degree and I got off it like: Zoloft; (I got a Urinal Tract Infection and went to the Hospital and they stuck something up my pee hole and I had to carry a bag in my leg that was attached to my bladder for a whole weekend, oh boy this is embarrassing) Lamictal; (My Brain got mini seizures and I kept hearing "BZZT" noises in my Head) Depakote; (I could literally feel my organs, I can't say much but I think I felt my liver, not really sure but I felt a squeezing pain above my stomach in the right side) Concerta; (I lost a TON of pounds and muscle which I regret so I asked my Doctor to prescrib me something else and he prescribed me vyvanse and me being a dumbass didn't tell him I was losing muscle and weight and he prescribed me now Adderall XR I hope this one does the trick for my ADHD) I get my Blood Tested every 6 months and I recently got my Results and I'm as healthy as the next guy now (Thank God) So I'm kinda scared Adderall will have a Major effect like Concerta If I'm in the wrong section of yahoo please direct me to the right one. PS. You don't have to write me a whole summary I will give anyone a thumbs up if you put effort and thought in your opinions and sources.

I think the very best thing to do is speak to your pharmacists were you get your prescriptions from. As you know the ambien is to sleep and will make you fall asleep fast and the amitript. Is for depression or a mood in hancer. Clonazepam will relax you. Geodon is to help with your other issues. As for the addreall it will make you concentrate like crazy. Lots of people abuse this drug for the speed effect it has. I'm sure the harm to your body is very minimal compared to the benefit. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a right combo. I'm sure every thing will turn out fine for you. Also go to webmd.com or google each drug for a list of side effects and more info. ♥"

snobster replied: "Hi! I am a psychiatric case manager. I have seen MANY people gain weight on depakote. I have been impressed with Lexapro as an antidepressant. You may want to check out this website--Solutions for Wellness. It is funded by a pharmeceutical company to help people maintain healthy eating habits in light of some medications that cause weight gain (that was told to me by the pharmeceutical drug representative!). The website is nice and is a FREE six month interactive program! Here is a snippet from their home page.... "We'd like to tell you about a FREE personalized program that can help you make healthy lifestyle changes. Start by taking a tour. Find out how to begin living a healthier life. Solutions for Wellness can help you to: Manage your diet Become more active Cope better with stress Enjoy more restful sleep Congratulations on taking the first step to a healthy lifestyle! This program is intended especially for people who have been referred by their mental healthcare provider." Please contact your psychiatrist and ask for a medication review. ((I would strongly recommend seeing a psychaitrist and not a family practice or other non-specialized practitioner)). Also, recognize that medications are just one part of mental health. Discuss other things that affect mental health with your psychiatrist.....diet, exercise, medical problems, etc.... Good luck! :)"
